As a Lab Tech 2, you will perform laboratory tests on soils, aggregates and HMA, prepare reports, and collect samples from jobsites and plants for a wide variety of transportation projects. As a Lab Tech 2, you will perform laboratory tests on soils, aggregates and HMA, prepare reports, and collect samples from jobsites and plants for a wide variety of transportation projects. What are the core responsibilities for the role? Work within a team of construction managers, office managers, inspectors, and contractors to successfully complete the construction of projects Perform field sampling and testing, and perform laboratory testing per UDOT, AASHTO and ASTM and other agency procedures and processes Complete test reports and documentation per UDOT and other agency requirements for all testing performed Work alongside UDOT construction crew or other agency construction management personnel in an augmentation role Assist younger technicians to complete tasks Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Certification under American Concrete Institute (ACI) as Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I required or UDOT equivalent Certification under WAQTC guidelines for Sampling and Density (SRDTT) Other Certifications through UDOT are preferred Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members. Willingness to work on projects locally and travel between labs daily Willingness to work either day or night shift depending on construction schedules Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills Must be comfortable and efficient with enter test results into required databases 4-6 years of experience Why would a candidate want this job?
