Development Services Manager

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full‑time Development Services Manager to oversee the general administration of the development review process. The role works independently, under limited supervision, and reports major activities through periodic meetings. The Development Services Manager earns a competitive salary ranging from \$71,682.31 to \$91,394.94 based on experience. In addition, the city pays all premiums for employees’ dental, long‑term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of medical premiums for employees and their dependents. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Oversee the general administration of the development process for the City of Pearland. Lead the daily operations of the Development Services division and provide customer services to both internal and external stakeholders. Track and coordinate commercial projects that involve multiple departments, jurisdictions, and points of contact. Manage the development and administration of the division’s budget, including estimating staffing, equipment, and supply needs. Review, recommend, and facilitate process improvements. Ensure accurate payments and daily reconciliations. Oversee and facilitate the Development Review Committee and pre‑development meetings. Serve as internal project manager for complex, commercial development projects and lead and assist with special projects. Serve as an ombudsman to the development and business community. Prepare agenda items, make public presentations, and coordinate with community groups. Additional Duties Assist with customer service issues, responding to inquiries, and coordinating with other departments. Interview, select, supervise, develop, and counsel personnel according to established City policies, procedures, and guidelines. Perform related work as assigned. Minimum Education And Experience Requirements Requires a bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, or a closely related field.
