Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering, a minimum of four years of transportation structural/bridge design experience, a PE license and a current NHI Bridge Inspection certification (preferred). Familiarity with structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges is essential and experience in preparing MDOT, ODOT, or other DOT's, and Local Agency bridge design packages is also required. Software experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/Geopak/ORD as well as knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, and DOT design standards are preferred. Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively with others. A flexible hybrid-remote/office work schedule is available after 30 days.Typical responsibilities include:Technical lead role in design for new and rehabilitation of conventional and complex bridges for our growing organizationTechnical lead for analysis, design, construction support services for various bridge types, culverts, earth retaining structures and other transportation related structuresPrepare geometric/bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculationsPrepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages using federal, state, and local specifications, guidelines and standardsReview shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, and respond to request for informationConduct various types of bridge load ratingsConduct bridge inspections/scoping and condition assessmentsStrong technical writing, analytical and communication skillsInteract with other civil engineering disciplines during designPrepare federal, state, and local permitsDetail oriented with an emphasis on quality work products and deliverablesAssist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentationsAssist with and monitor scope, budget, and schedule for new and existing projectsMentor staff to support their growth and professional developmentAttend client, public, project, and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc. depending on client and project requirementsMaintain a safe working environmentEducationBachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering is requiredSkills/Experience4+ years of transportation structural design experienceLicensed Professional EngineerFamiliarity with structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges is essential and experience in preparing MDOT, ODOT, other DOT's, and Local Agency bridge design packages isCurrent NHI Bridge Inspection certification is preferred, or ability to obtain certificationAbout Wade TrimWade Trim is committed to maximizing the value of infrastructure investments.
