Physics Adjunct Faculty Lecture & Lab (EVENING COURSES) - Summer 2026 Position Title: Physics Adjunct Faculty Lecture & Lab (EVENING COURSES) – Summer 2026 General Description Faculty member’s responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, advising students, maintaining academic records, and participating in assessment of learning outcomes. Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in accordance with the catalog description and approved syllabus, incorporating interactive approaches and technologies when possible. Incorporate appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses. Use the library, writing, computing, and other academic technologies in courses when appropriate. Attend all scheduled class meetings. Advise the Dean or Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner. Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit required reports to the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Student Records Office. Submit grades by the published deadline. Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use results for course planning. Plan in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment necessary for teaching. Submit progress reports for counseling, athletic oversight, and record‑keeping purposes, and discuss any student problems with counselors and other appropriate personnel. Adhere to college policies and procedures. Education and Experience Master’s degree in Physics or related discipline (unless otherwise specified). Some teaching experience at the community‑college level required. Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview; official transcripts upon hire. Competencies and Skills Certification or license as required for teaching. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates. Willingness to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques. Commitment to incorporating library, computers, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum. Knowledge of competency‑based education. Commitment to providing out‑of‑class interaction with students. Fundamental competency in the use of information technology. Commitment to continual assessment of the teaching–learning process and its outcomes. Commitment to continual professional growth and development. Demonstrated mastery of subject matter of the discipline. Physical Demands and Work Environment Typical interior/residential work environment. Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds. Limited physical risk exposure. Some travel required. Salary Additional Information Term: Part time; faculty must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
