About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President of Operations Accounting to take on a pivotal role in a growing accounting function. The successful candidate will operate in a true player-coach capacity, maintaining hands-on involvement while also providing leadership. This role offers direct exposure to executive leadership through financial reporting and performance analysis, as well as the opportunity to improve and build scalable accounting processes within a multi-entity structure. The AVP will be responsible for overseeing general ledger close processes, insurance operations accounting, and ensuring compliance with fiduciary and premium trust accounting standards. Additionally, the role involves financial analysis, variance reporting, and driving process improvements, automation, and accounting system enhancements. Applicants for the AVP Operations Accountant position at the company should have 6-8+ years of accounting experience, with a preference for those with a background in insurance, MGA, brokerage, or carrier environments. Strong expertise in general ledger, reconciliations, and financial analysis is essential, as is a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a working manager capacity. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, with a CPA, MBA, or MAcc being preferred. The role demands advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or agency management systems. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing carrier payables, account current reconciliations, and will have a proven track record in financial close, audits, and budgeting processes. The position also involves mentoring and developing staff, and the ability to influence the structure of the accounting team.
