Job Description The 3rd Grade Teacher facilitates student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviors, ensuring continuous improvement in state and national performance levels. The teacher supports students’ academic growth and contributes to a safe, engaging learning environment. Responsibilities Implement 21st‑century skills into the curriculum. Work a full duty day in the assigned location. Assess student abilities relative to educational goals, objectives, outcomes, and Head Start Performance Standards. Plan and employ a variety of instruction and learning strategies tailored to the physical facility and student needs. Manage classroom behavior and participate in site‑wide student behavior management. Communicate instruction, progress, and needs to students and parents in writing or verbally. Maintain assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes. Collaborate with program personnel to plan effective instructional goals and curriculum. Participate in professional growth activities such as staff meetings, in‑service training, and development activities. Assist in documenting student progress with accurate records and reports. Ensure the classroom is attractive, healthy, safe, and conducive to learning. Participate in extracurricular activities as requested by the principal. Attend IEP meetings for IDEA students. Demonstrate good knowledge of content, curriculum, and instructional methods for the assigned grade. Understand early‑childhood program studies related to mission, goals, and organization. Stay current with research and theory. Plan lessons based on curriculum objectives and student needs. Establish relationships with students, parents, and peers; serve as a family advocate and participate in home visits. Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills and excellent human relations skills. Display physical and emotional ability to perform required work and move around the classroom. Show patience, caring, and desire to support student success. Take attendance and maintain attendance registers per Board policy. Know and follow Section 504 and IDEA amendments. Maintain a courteous and professional appearance. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience with 21st‑century skill integration. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Knowledge of state and national performance standards. Commitment to continuous professional learning. Benefits Full‑time position, 186 days per year. Salary determined by the certified salary schedule: FLSA status: Exempt. Reporting to: Director of Libraries and Building Principal.
