Job Goal: Facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviors to develop mature, able, and responsible members of society. Essential Functions: Implement 21st‑Century Skills into the curriculum. Work a full duty day at the assigned location(s). Assess student abilities relative to educational goals and Head Start Performance Standards. Plan and employ various instruction and learning strategies that align with the physical facility and meet student needs. Manage classroom behavior and collaborate on broader student behavior management. Communicate instructional expectations, progress, or lack thereof to students and parents verbally or in writing. Maintain assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting. Collaborate with program personnel to develop instructional goals, objectives, methods, and curriculum. Participate in professional growth activities: staff meetings, in‑service, and staff development. Document student progress and submit appropriate records and reports. Ensure classroom and instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning. Participate in extracurricular activities as requested by the principal. Attend IEP meetings for IDEA students as a regular teacher. Demonstrate good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment for assigned specialty. Show understanding of student growth and development at the assigned grade. Possess knowledge of early childhood program studies related to mission, goals, and organization. Stay current with research and theory. Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and student needs. Establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, peers, and serve as a family advocate in the district‑wide Family Advocate System. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Employ excellent human relations skills. Demonstrate physical and emotional ability to perform required work in a fast‑paced environment. Move around the classroom to monitor student work and behavior. Show patience, caring, and dedication to help every student succeed. Take attendance and maintain registers per Board policy. Know and follow Section 504 and IDEA amendments. Maintain courteous and professional demeanor and appearance. Perform other duties as assigned. Communication/Organization: Maintain communication with school personnel and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action meeting student educational needs. Utilize technology effectively during duties. Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems, interpret varied instructions, and handle situations with limited standardization. Language Skills: Read and analyze professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations; write reports, curriculum, correspondence, protocols; present information and respond to inquiries. Physical Demands: Require sitting, walking, standing, and talking or hearing. Vision needs include close, distance, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
