Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

You’ll be working full-time (35 hours per week), with assignments spanning a variety of schools in the Chattanooga area. Details about the exact age groups and caseload will be provided soon, as the district is finalizing its rosters, but the role will involve working with students in need of dedicated DHH instruction and advocacy.

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid and active DOE teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
• Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, particularly in educational settings
• Strong ability to individualize instruction and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Eligible to complete fingerprinting and meet time-sensitive credentialing requirements

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to DHH students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education staff, support services, and families to ensure student success
• Employ a variety of teaching strategies and technologies to make content accessible
• Advocate for student needs and inclusive practices within the school environments
• Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and district initiatives
