Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact working as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing with a K-12 student population in the Chattanooga area. This full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year allows you to share your expertise supporting students with hearing differences in their academic and social development. Your assignment may involve working at one or more schools, and detailed caseload information is forthcoming as the district finalizes its roster and placements.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Licensed Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) with an active DOE certification
- Experience supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in school settings, preferably across different age groups in K-12
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
- Ability to tailor instructional approaches for diverse learners
- Up-to-date on fingerprinting and credentialing requirements or willingness to complete them prior to start
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and/or consultation services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Collaborate with IEP teams to design and implement individualized educational plans
- Assess students' progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, ensuring access to curriculum and school activities
- Communicate regularly with families and school staff
- Travel between multiple school sites as needed based on assignment
Assignment Details:
- Contract duration: August 5, 2026 – May 19, 2027
- Full-time, 35 hours per week
- Caseloads/age groups will be finalized closer to the new school year
