Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful role providing essential services as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the upcoming academic year. This contract position blends in-person and virtual flexibility and calls for professionals who are passionate about supporting K-12+ students' learning journeys. With a start date of August 5, 2026, and continuing through May 19, 2027, you’ll be pivotal in a region dedicated to innovative, student-centered support.

Candidates may be considered for virtual assignments, provided they offer at least five years of remote TVI experience. Full-time availability is ideal at 35 hours per week, though part-time schedules may be an option. You’ll be entrusted with an itinerant caseload, traveling between geographically clustered schools with assignments tailored to minimize travel time. Caseloads feature a range of general education students and those with multiple disabilities, with responsibilities spanning elementary, middle, and high school populations.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Department of Education certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Minimum five years of virtual TVI experience for remote consideration
• Proficiency with Braille and assistive technology is required; knowledge of the Federal Quota program is a strong asset
• Experience conducting and participating in IEP meetings using the TN Pulse platform
• Comfort working with Chromebooks and supporting diverse learning needs
• Willingness to complete required fingerprinting and credentialing

Expected Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and consultation based on students’ IEPs
• Navigate a mixed caseload, traveling between assigned schools as needed
• Collaborate with general education and special education teams
• Leverage current technology and Braille resources for effective learning
