Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Bring your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students across K-12 classrooms in a vibrant, engaging environment. This contract opportunity offers both on-site and potential virtual positions, based on your preference and experience. You'll work closely with a diverse caseload, providing essential instruction and support to students with varying needs, including those in general education and specialized classrooms.

Start making a difference from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week (part-time hours may also be considered). The itinerant model is thoughtfully structured, assigning you to geographically grouped schools within the district to minimize travel time. Schedules and site assignments are currently being developed to best match skills and caseloads.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Virtual TVI if applying for virtual or VOCO roles
• Proficiency in Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students; Federal Quota program knowledge a plus
• Valid DOE Certification
• Experience working with both general education and special education students
• Familiarity with TN Pulse IEP platform and involvement in IEP meetings
• Willingness to complete required fingerprinting and compliance steps
• Comfortable using Chromebooks for instructional support

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative support to K-12 students with visual impairments
• Travel between assigned schools as needed (virtual support available if qualified)
• Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families
• Prepare and participate in IEP meetings and maintain up-to-date documentation
• Customize instruction using Braille and assistive technology for student success
