What You Will Do:
NatureBridge in Olympic National Park has been in operation since 1987. The Olympic campus is one of four campuses that operate NatureBridge programs. The Campus Director serves as the senior leader of NatureBridge's Olympic campus, responsible for advancing our mission, leading a high-performing team, stewarding critical partnerships, and ensuring exceptional educational experiences for thousands of students each year.
The CD oversees an annual budget of $3 million, a campus staff of 30 and partners with a regional board of directors to advance NatureBridge’s vision, mission and goals within the context of the campus’ staff and programs and unique location on the Olympic Peninsula and in Washington state. The Campus Director is a member of NatureBridge's senior leadership team and plays a critical role in shaping organizational strategy, culture, partnerships, and growth. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead one of the nation's premier environmental education programs in one of America's most iconic national parks. Every year, approximately 4,000 guests, including students, teachers, and chaperones, event participants visit NatureBridge Olympic. The Campus Director plays a critical role in shaping these experiences while leading a talented team, stewarding key partnerships, and advancing environmental education in one of America's most remarkable national parks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Campus Leadership and General AdministrationProvide strong, dynamic leadership for the campus and staff; serve as overall point person for the campus
Represent NatureBridge as the voice and face of the campus
Ensure campus operations are efficient and effective in providing safe, quality programming and customer service
Lead the Olympic campus leadership team; coordinate and collaborate on needs, responsibilities and communications for programs, campus and staff
Directly supervise the Operations, Facilities and Hospitality and Food Service teams
Ensure the NatureBridge purpose, mission and values are emulated, and drive campus operations and experience
Foster and maintain a positive campus culture and staff working relationships
Work with National Sales, Education, Operations and Development leads to offer feedback and support to those departments’ staff on campus
Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the National Park Service as well as supporting agencies and partners
Manage and monitor assigned campus budget line items and operating plan; provide input and develop assumptions on campus budget line items as needed
Drive, coordinate, and oversee implementation of significant capital projects, including coordination with NPS and other partners, vendors and staff as needed
Manage and monitor National Park Cooperative Agreement including compliance and reporting and project management; oversee agreement renewal as needed
Lead and manage local/community programs (e.g., Family Camp) including sales and marketing, staffing, risk management, operations and education program delivery
Provide strategic thought partnership as part of the senior leadership team
Participate in developing organization-wide policy; practice and support organization initiatives
Execute and implement policies developed by NatureBridge senior staff and Board, to ensure campus alignment with Finance and HR policies and processes.
Support HR team in resolving employee issues, including coaching, modeling conflict resolution and inclusive practices.
Perform other duties as assigned
Provide support, collaboration and coordination across all functions of program delivery for Environmental Science programs, conferences and weddings
Oversee and be accountable for campus program delivery expense budgets
Oversee and ensure sufficient staff housing, including procurement and management of housing properties, implementation of housing policies and requirements, etc.
Serve as campus administrative, HR and risk management representative
Oversee risk management on campus in partnership with Risk Management and Human Resources; monitor and implement risk management protocols
Serve as key member of Campus Emergency Response Team to lead and manage response to emergencies and urgent situations on site
Partner with the Regional Board, Development team, and key stakeholders to advance fundraising, strategic partnerships, advocacy efforts, and campus visibility.
Serve as the primary ambassador for NatureBridge Olympic, cultivating relationships with donors, community leaders, school partners, elected officials, and National Park Service leadership.
Partner with the Development team to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and institutional funders including supporting a significant NatureBridge capital campaign.
Engage, as appropriate, with entities like Washington Outdoor Schools for All and National Parks Friends Alliance Outdoor Schools network to benefit the campus and NatureBridge.
Lead collaboration and provide accountability and support for:
Education and program leadership and staff to help ensure program quality and smooth operations
Sales efforts in collaboration with the campus sales staff and the National Sales Director, to monitor revenue trends and goals
Finance and Human Resources efforts for compliance and reporting, budget management and development and policy implementation
Proven project management skills; highly detail-oriented with excellent planning and execution ability and multi-tasking skills
Experience working with boards, government agencies, donors, and community partners strongly preferred
Financial and budget management skills and experience

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in a related field such as education, business or public administration

Working Conditions
This position works in both a traditional office setting and in the field (national park locations). This position involves some cross-country travel, as well as some regional travel. There is occasional evening and weekend work.

Compensation
Annual Salary: $92,000-$96,000
Final compensation is determined by our organizational compensation methodology based on role, skill level and geographic location. We are committed to internal equity across the organization.
