Staff Accountant

Position Staff Accountant Location Stow, Massachusetts, Masters Academy International Start Date August 1, 2026 About the Role Masters Academy International (MAI) seeks a meticulous accountant to manage daily financial operations, ensuring strict compliance across all school programs. You will oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, process payroll, maintain the general ledger, and conduct monthly reconciliations while safeguarding institutional resources through strong internal controls and proactive budget variance analysis. Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. Process payroll and maintain the general ledger. Conduct monthly reconciliations and ensure compliance with GAAP. Implement and strengthen internal control frameworks. Analyze budget variances and provide actionable financial insights. Leverage ERP systems to design scalable financial workflows. Translate complex financial data into insights that support the Academy’s long‑term growth. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. In-depth understanding of GAAP, double‑entry bookkeeping, and full‑cycle financial management. Advanced proficiency with Excel and accounting software. Experience working within schools, athletics programs, nonprofits, or mission‑driven organizations (preferred). Experience in a startup or small, growing team environment (preferred).
