Sous Chef – Soho House At Soho House, the Sous Chef is motivated to positively influence the kitchen team to follow the direction of the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in planning, organizing and managing the Kitchen Department according to company policies and state standards. The role involves recruiting and training new employees, adhering to allergy procedures and food preferences, and working with the Executive Chef to develop new menu options. A successful Sous Chef is a strong communicator, organized, with in‑depth knowledge of various cuisines, stations, cooking styles, ingredients, equipment, and processes. The candidate is an operationally creative professional with strong leadership and management experience, sharing a passion for food by delivering an experience through their dishes. Main Duties Lead by example alongside the Executive Chef to deliver effective and efficient dining experiences by overseeing BOH operations, staffing, food production, accommodating special requests and dietary restrictions, and following allergy procedures. Maintain health and safety standards set by Soho House and local/regional government. Establish professional relationships with the team and provide educational opportunities to teach and develop skills. Support “Cook House” education and training demos, trips, and on‑the‑job staff development to ensure safe work habits and proper procedures in any dangerous or unsafe situation. Influence processes to run an effective and efficient kitchen while maintaining the highest food quality and control for all dishes served. Manage staff schedules, payroll, kitchen set‑up, production and prep, ensuring staff wear proper uniforms and disciplinary procedures are followed when applicable. Instill teamwork and synergy between front‑end and back‑end staff through proper communication and delegation of tasks to ensure smooth service and kitchen operations. Required Skills and Qualifications Minimum of 3‑4+ years’ experience in a volume‑based culinary environment with a global culture and consistently elevated dishes. Culinary trained professional passionate about developing and growing as a chef. Experience managing P&L, labor, purchasing, vendors, and quality control while generating revenue results. Consistent, stable work experience and desire to operationally support the business as an individual contributor and leader. Food Serve Safe certification and experience with local sanitation regulations. Well‑versed email etiquette and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience training and leading large‑scale food production teams with knowledge of quality food operations. High school diploma or equivalent trade school certification. Physical Requirements Ability to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands. Ability to work on feet for at least 8 hours. Fast‑paced movements required to move between areas of the club. Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds. Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing as required.
