ALTERNATIVE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY COORDINATOR (AID) / BUS DRIVER Davie County Schools – South Davie Middle School, Mocksville, North Carolina Job ID: 5679934 Application Deadline: Sep 30, 2026 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) Posted: Apr 29, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Beginning ASAP 7 hrs./day (potential for up to 8 hrs./day with regular bus route) Coaching experience and willingness to coach preferred Alternative Instructional Day (AID) COORDINATOR Under general supervision, performs a variety of instructional and managerial tasks, along with some technical and clerical duties. Employee may perform a wide range of tasks in order to support teachers, meet the needs of students assigned to AID, and ensure the provision of instruction for all students. Employee provides assistance with academics and classroom management. Reports to Principal and/or Assistant Principal. Essential Job Functions Coordinates instruction and supervises students who cannot remain in the regular classroom for short durations of time (class periods to multiple days). Assists in upholding and enforcing school/district rules. Provides a supportive, structured alternative learning environment, Constantly monitors safety and social-emotional well‑being of students; processes them and encourages resilience and improved decision‑making. Monitors and records student behavior; maintains discipline in the classroom and promotes positive behavior; assists with de‑escalation and crisis prevention as needed. Assists students with learning; serves as a liaison between students and teachers; provides directions for assignments and offers small group or one‑on‑one assistance; monitors progress and assists with submission of completed assignments. Contributes to a positive work environment by demonstrating professionalism both inside and outside of the classroom. Maintains documentation concerning student information; adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines. Participates in meetings and training aligned with school/district goals to meet student needs. Maintains Commercial Driver’s License and drives a school bus as needed. Performs other related work as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of activities performed by teachers and daily classroom routines. General knowledge of student and staff handbook rules. General knowledge of procedures to follow in the event of an emergency, with ability to think and act quickly, effectively, and responsibly under emergency situations. General knowledge of the principles of organization and administration. Some knowledge of the curriculum for the grade levels. Ability to constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students. Ability to motivate students and to maintain order and discipline in a classroom. Ability to operate common classroom technology and office equipment. Ability to maintain basic files and records. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff. Minimum Training and Experience High School diploma and either an associate’s degree (equivalent hours or higher degree) or demonstration of being highly qualified by completing a local training program and meeting assessment requirements in reading, writing, and math. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required To perform essential job functions. Physical Requirements Must be able to use a variety of equipment, classroom tools, and technology, including those for children with special needs. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light to Medium Work.
