Our partner is a venture-backed startup building a prospecting database used by companies that sell to local businesses. They recently launched a second product line: a managed outbound calling service delivered by their own team of representatives. That line went from zero to 20 representatives and from zero to 125 meetings booked per week in its first four weeks, with roughly $500K of demand already waitlisted. The core team is 25 people serving 150 customers, and the longer-term ambition is a marketplace that trains and enables sales representatives anywhere in the world with AI.

Location: New York, NY

Work Model: Onsite (5 days/week)

Compensation: ~$180K OTE (70/30 base/variable)

The Opportunity

This is the hire that unblocks the fastest-growing part of the business. The team is capped at 20 representatives today and wants to reach 100 by the end of the year, and they cannot add capacity until this role is filled. You will own how every customer's outbound actually gets sold: the angles, the scripts, the coaching, and the system that makes all of it repeatable.

The mandate is deliberately broad. You will not be running one-on-ones with a hundred people. You will be building the coaching system, using AI wherever it can carry the load, so that quality scales faster than headcount. You will sit in on customer onboarding calls to shape the approach, then hand ongoing account management to someone else and get back to what moves the number.

Responsibilities

• Develop three to five cold calling angles for each new customer, test them with a small group of representatives, and iterate toward what works
• Coach an international team of representatives on cold calling fundamentals, script refinement, and objection handling
• Run group coaching formats, such as morning call reviews, rather than individual sessions
• Help hire and onboard high-quality representatives as the team scales toward 100
• Build AI-supported systems that make coaching and quality control repeatable across hundreds of representatives
• Join customer onboarding calls to set the outbound approach before handing off to account management

Requirements

• Hands-on cold calling experience, with the credibility to coach others on it
• Prior coaching or leadership exposure, whether formal BDR/SDR management, a lead SDR/BDR role, or informal responsibility for reviewing calls and mentoring peers
• Genuine interest in AI and in building inside a fast-moving startup environment
• Comfort operating in an intense, high-change environment with ambiguous problems
• Able to work onsite in New York City five days per week
