Surgical Technologist

Education / Experience Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Certification in specialty area preferred. Essential Functions Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN. Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies. Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development. Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory. Skills / Qualifications Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations. Work Environment Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases, hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes. Possible exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation. Required protective equipment: Eye/face protection, gown, mask, gloves, hair covering. Physical Requirements Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching with arms, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing.
