Assembler 1st Shift

This role focuses on assembling equipment and products by accurately reading and following blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, operate hydraulic presses, and follow defined process flows to rebuild engines and install components. The position requires attention to quality, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to identify and document defects while performing rework or repairs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
• Assemble and rebuild engines and install parts and components into engines according to engineering and production requirements.
• Utilize handheld tools such as wrenches, hammers, and handheld screw and drill guns to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently.
• Operate hydraulic presses in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
• Follow process flow procedures at the workstation to ensure consistent and efficient assembly operations.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of product and components at the workstation to support continuous workflow.
• Perform quality checks on assembled equipment and products to ensure they meet established quality standards.
• Identify product defects, nonconformances, or issues and complete the appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
• Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products in response to engineering specification changes or identified defects.
• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards, established safety procedures, and company policies.
• Lift and move materials and components weighing up to approximately 5075 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement of assembly processes and work practices.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical assembly experience, preferably 6 months to 1 year in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Experience using hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, and handheld screw and drill guns.
• Experience using power tools and equipment commonly used in assembly operations.
• Ability to use a tape measure accurately for measurements and fit-up.
• Comfort working with hydraulic presses and similar shop equipment.
• Capability to perform quality checks and identify defects in assembled products.
• Ability to lift up to 5075 pounds occasionally while following safe lifting practices.
• Willingness to follow detailed process flow procedures and standardized work instructions.
• Commitment to working safely and adhering to established safety procedures and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior manufacturing experience in mechanical assembly, especially within the medical or automotive industries, is a plus.
• Experience rebuilding engines or working with engine components is beneficial.
• Ability to read blueprints is strongly preferred and considered an advantage.
• Familiarity with documenting defects, nonconformances, and rework activities.
• Comfort working with multiple shifts and understanding shift premium structures, if needed for coverage.
• Interest in learning and growing within a manufacturing environment that offers multiple skill levels and progression opportunities (such as progressing into CNC roles).

Work Environment

The work environment is climate controlled, providing a comfortable setting throughout the year. The role follows a structured shift schedule with multiple options: 1st shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; 2nd shift runs from 2:15 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.; and 3rd shift runs Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. Shift premiums are available, with an additional $1 per hour for 2nd shift and $2 per hour for 3rd shift, applied when the majority of hours are worked on an off shift, including split shifts when applicable. The facility uses standard manufacturing tools and equipment such as hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and hydraulic presses, and may also support multiple levels of CNC operation roles. Employees work in a production environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork, with company-provided shirts and hoodies and a shoe reimbursement program to help maintain appropriate work attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Mills, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
