Payroll AccountantLocation: San Mateo, CAIndustry: SaaS / TechnologyEmployment Type: Contract / Contract-to-HireSchedule: HybridPosition OverviewOur client, a growing SaaS company in San Mateo, is seeking a Payroll Accountant to support payroll accounting, reconciliations, and general accounting activities. This position will work closely with Payroll, HR, and Finance to ensure payroll is accurately recorded and reconciled while supporting the month-end close process.Key ResponsibilitiesRecord and reconcile payroll transactions to the general ledger.Prepare payroll-related journal entries and accruals.Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.Review payroll reports for accuracy and completeness.Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.Reconcile payroll taxes, benefits, deductions, and other payroll-related accounts.Partner with Payroll and HR to resolve payroll and accounting discrepancies.Assist with multi-state payroll accounting and compliance.Support payroll audits and provide requested documentation.Assist with W-2 and year-end payroll reporting.Maintain accurate payroll accounting records and documentation.Identify and improve payroll accounting processes and internal controls.Provide support for ad hoc accounting and finance projects.
