LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Job Title

This position involves comprehensive logistics planning and programming support for identified systems/programs.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a range of duties including:

• Planning, organizing, and directing logistics planning and programming support for identified systems/programs.
• Developing, reviewing, validating, and substantiating current and long-range logistics requirements to support worldwide mission objectives.
• Providing comprehensive guidance and procedures for subordinate commands and field activities in the execution of budget/buy/modification/maintenance support for these systems/programs.
• Planning and conducting studies and developing input for logistics policies and procedural systems applied throughout the Air Force.
• Developing logistics guidance and criteria for timely and cost-effective life cycle support and implementation.
• Studying operational procedures and work methods involving interface with logistics support related to maintenance, distribution, and other technical requirements.
• Providing advisory assistance and interface with other activities.
• Developing and justifying budget estimates and reviewing procedures and techniques to be used in the buy/budget program proposals and evaluations.
• Evaluating OSD and agency logistics guidelines and instructions to determine necessary changes in requirements computations, logistics planning, etc.
• Issuing initial and revised procurement authorizations covering the funding areas managed.
• Participating in the analysis of the progress and status of directed programs.
• Initiating reprogramming actions when necessary.
• Analyzing and assessing operating logistics programs in order to correlate resource requirements to achieve plans and objectives.
• Conducting/directing investigations and studies to respond to Congress, GAO, AF Inspector General, or other agencies.
• Carrying out special projects and assignments designed specifically to meet the broadening intent of the position.
• Representing the concerns of the organization at meetings and conferences preparing staff studies and various documents to meet special needs.
• Developing and presenting oral presentations; leading and/or serving on steering committees or completing a project aimed at improving organizational effectiveness.
• Providing responsive and timely support to customers, actively supporting achievement of financial program goals and objectives.
• Working to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services and taking a proactive approach in providing customer assistance.
• Contributing to timely and viable resolution of issues and problems that are complete, effective, coordinated, and well researched.
• Establishing effective professional working relationships with coworkers, or contacts outside the organization contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
