At American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO), we design and manufacture custom crane, hoist, and industrial control systems used in demanding industries including nuclear, aerospace, defense, and heavy manufacturing. We are currently hiring Electrical Engineers at multiple experience levels ranging from early-career engineers to highly experienced senior engineers. Whether you're building foundational engineering experience or leading complex industrial electrical design work, this role offers the opportunity to work on real equipment with real-world impact. This is not a purely theoretical engineering environment-your work directly supports equipment that gets manufactured, tested, installed, and used in mission-critical applications. You won't get lost here-your work will be seen, and it will matter. What This Role Really Is This is a hands-on industrial electrical engineering role focused on electrical design, industrial controls, troubleshooting, and practical engineering problem solving tied directly to manufacturing and field performance. Depending on experience level, responsibilities may range from supporting engineering projects under mentorship to independently leading electrical design scope on highly customized industrial systems. - Support cross-functional engineering and manufacturing problem solving
- Begin owning electrical scope on assigned projects
- Mentor less experienced engineers where applicable
- Design and support industrial electrical and control systems for cranes and hoists
- Create and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material
- Apply electrical engineering principles to power distribution, motor control, and industrial automation systems
- Support PLCs, VFDs, and industrial control applications where applicable
- Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during design, manufacturing, testing, and field support
- Support manufacturing and field service teams with technical guidance and engineering solutions
- Participate in design reviews and engineering problem solving
- Support compliance with applicable codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, and ASME
- Create and review engineering documentation and technical reports
- Support quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Continue developing technical knowledge and engineering capability
- Contribute ideas for process, design, or workflow improvements
- Support engineering best practices and standards development
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program required
- Master's degree is a plus but not required
- Entry-level through 10+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience considered
- Experience with industrial controls, power systems, or heavy industrial equipment preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
- Understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, industrial controls, and power systems
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and industrial electrical design principles
- Exposure to NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, ASME, or related codes preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools
- PLC, VFD, automation, or troubleshooting experience is a plus
- Strong ownership mindset and accountability
- Willingness to learn and develop technically
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Practical problem-solving ability

- EIT/EI preferred for early-career engineers
- PE license valued for senior-level candidates
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

- Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with applicable laws
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug screen in accordance with company policy and randomized drug screens during employment
- Ability to meet the posted work schedule and work required hours
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE when in shop or manufacturing areas
- Willingness to complete required safety and compliance training
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to maintain professional conduct aligned with company values and expectations
- Ability to work full-time, on-site Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM
- Certain projects may require the ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities in compliance with NRC regulations (10 C.F.R. Parts 26 & 73)
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments while following all safety requirements
- Primarily office-based engineering role
- Regular collaboration with manufacturing and field service teams
- Occasional exposure to shop environments, electrical equipment, and industrial conditions
- Required use of PPE when in manufacturing or testing areas
