Controller | Lead Finance Ops with 4-Day Workweek

Controller West Palm Beach, FL On-site | Full-Time A well-established, private club in West Palm Beach is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function. This is a high-impact role offering autonomy, stability, and strong work/life balance for the right accounting leader. The position is open due to an upcoming departure and requires an urgent but thoughtful hire. Why This Role? Strong work/life balance: 4-day workweeks for 6 months out of the year Stable, experienced accounting team Visible, hands-on leadership role with autonomy and minimal micromanagement Long-term opportunity for someone seeking consistency and longevity Key Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations including AR, AP, payroll, and onboarding (3-person team) Lead month-end and year-end close processes Prepare financial statements and manage the annual audit with a focus on clean outcomes Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting Identify and implement process improvements Partner with club leadership to support financial planning and operational needs Ideal Background Strong technical accounting foundation with hands-on audit experience Proven experience running an accounting department or function Ability to independently manage priorities and lead an established team Club, hospitality, or similar industry experience preferred but not required Demonstrated longevity in prior roles (this is a must) Education is flexible; performance and experience matter most Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $130,000–$150,000 (DOE) Discretionary annual bonus 401(k) with 4% company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee-only cost approx. $25–30/week) 7 sick days per year 2 weeks PTO 6–7 paid holidays annually
