This is a great opportunity for an accountant who wants to expand their experience in a collaborative, teaching-focused environment with the potential to grow into a long-term role.The GL Accountant will be responsible for general ledger and financial reporting for assigned units, with significant involvement in month-end close, reconciliations, grant accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis. This position also serves as a key finance resource to operational teams, providing guidance and helping resolve day-to-day accounting questions.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly journal entries, including intercompany activitySupport accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processesPrepare and review monthly financial statements and financial reportsPerform monthly balance sheet account reconciliationsReview AP and cash receipt activity for proper general ledger codingCoordinate grant revenue recognition, accruals, billing, and reportingAnalyze financial results and investigate budget variancesAssist with annual budgeting and internal and external audit schedulesPartner with operational teams to resolve accounting and reporting questionsSupport capital project tracking and other accounting projects as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree with a concentration or significant coursework in Accounting3–5+ years of accounting experience with strong general ledger experienceStrong Excel skillsExperience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliationsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsCollaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesSelf-starter who takes initiative and is eager to learn and growWhy Join?Contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term growthCollaborative environment with an emphasis on training and developmentBroad exposure to general ledger accounting, grants, budgeting, financial reporting, and audit supportOpportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit organizationCompensation: Up to $37/hour
