Senior Manager of Engineering

Role Description

The Sr. Manager of Engineering is a key member of Fingercheck's fast-growing Engineering team where you'll be responsible for people, process, and technology management of our cloud-based and mobile HCM solution. This position will be a "player / coach" engaged in hands-on software development, architectural planning, strategic initiatives, and effective team management.

• Collaboratively lead and participate in hands-on frontend and backend coding of new and existing product features and enhancements.
• Build and manage multiple high-performing software engineering teams.
• Foster strong collaboration with Product Management, UX, DevOps, DBAs, and Tech Support.
• Shape the processes and technology stack necessary to build efficient and high-performing solutions for clients.
• Develop using the Microsoft .NET stack running on AWS infrastructure.

Essential Responsibilities

• Execute the engineering strategy and align team deliverables with overall business goals.
• Lead and inspire multiple high-performance engineering teams to achieve excellence.
• Manage cross-team dependencies, resource allocation, and synchronization across multiple engineering squads.
• Drive delivery excellence: maintain sprint health, velocity visibility, and predictable execution rhythms.
• Champion the adoption and governance of modern AI development tools.
• Build toward self-managed teams by establishing clear ownership structures and accountability frameworks.
• Provide solution architecture direction and guidance to engineering teams.
• Ensure comprehensive documentation of technical processes, architecture, and code.
• Provide technical leadership in designing scalable and secure cloud-based solutions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a skilled engineering team.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
• Design, develop, and implement new product features or enhancements.
• Collaborate with and train developers on best practices.
• Collaborate with VP of Engineering, Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineering staff.
• Drive innovation in product development and engineering processes.
• Support the VP of Engineering in implementing the technology roadmap.
• Drive technical delivery of projects based on product development pipeline priorities.
• Collaboratively define and ensure adherence to coding standards and approved technologies.
• Provide technical assessment of the impact of any changes to product requirements.
• Provide support to Tier 2 customer service agents.
• Work closely with the SRE team to guarantee optimal health and scalability of systems.

Qualifications

• Ability to inspire and drive a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
• 7-10 years' full-stack object-oriented development in Microsoft .NET and Angular.
• Experience with related technologies such as .NET / Framework, MVC, HTML, CSS, JSON, JQuery, REST, SQS, DynamoDB.
• Demonstrated track record of building self-managing, high-accountability engineering teams.
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud-based environments.
• 5+ years' successfully leading and delivering full-stack software engineering projects in AWS.
• 5+ years' experience leading multiple engineering teams in an Agile environment.
• Currently engaged in 40% to 60% hands-on code-base contribution in software development.
• Proven ability to drive operational consistency, engineering excellence, and communication across multiple squads.
• Strong delivery management sensibility.
• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organization and prioritization skills.
• Experience providing hands-on solution architecture direction.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience adopting, governing, and scaling AI development tools.
• Passion for continuous learning and innovation.
• Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket / Git / GitHub, NAnt, MSBuild, Artifactory, Nexus, Docker, NUnit, Visual Studio.
• Experience implementing quality processes such as unit testing and integration testing.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to plan and prioritize technical initiatives.
• Experience implementing and monitoring security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with Engineering Leadership.
• 5+ years' experience with AWS components.
• Experience managing mobile development projects and/or developing mobile applications.
• Proven track record in developing and supporting large-scale, cloud-based Human Capital Management (HCM) SaaS solutions.
