Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a Medical Surgical unit. Deliver patient-centered care by implementing physicians' orders, monitoring patient progress, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Ensure optimal outcomes through assessment, planning, and education.

Responsibilities:

• Develop personalized care plans by assessing patient needs, reviewing medical histories, and considering cultural and psychosocial factors.
• Administer prescribed treatments, including medications and IV therapy, while monitoring patient responses.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, initiating resuscitative measures when necessary in the absence of immediate physician availability.
• Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and post-discharge care tailored to their learning styles.
• Document all interventions, observations, and patient responses accurately in the EMR system.
• Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license with valid certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR system is required.
• Ability to float to other Medical Surgical units as needed.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team coordination abilities.
