Automation Personnel, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our customers’ growing team in Channelview, TX ! This role is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials for our steel fabrication and coating operations, as well as parts and supplies for shop equipment, forklifts, and semi-trucks. The ideal candidate will bring industry-specific procurement experience, strong vendor management skills, and attention to cost and quality. This role will also oversee Two parts drivers and Tool Room attendant.
Pay Rate
$25.00- $30.00 per hour depending on experience
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm.
Purchasing Agent Duties and Responsibilities
- Source and purchase steel, coatings, and other materials required for fabrication and coating operations.
- Order and track parts for shop equipment, forklifts, and semi-trucks.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely deliveries.
- Oversee tool room inventory and organization.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of two parts drivers and tool room attendant.
- Maintain purchasing records and support budgeting goals.
- Ensure all procurement complies with company standards and project requirements.
Purchasing Agent Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be able to lift 55 lbs. (lifting assessment administered in office)
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within steel, coatings, or industrial manufacturing
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Working knowledge of steel grades, coatings, and related materials
- Detail-oriented, organized, and cost-conscious approach
- Prior experience supporting oil & gas fabrication or maintenance operations
- Technical understanding of industrial equipment parts and components
