Treasury Consultant – Treasury & Payment Solutions Specialty Groups - Institutional Markets About The Team The Treasury and Payment Solutions (TPS) Sales organization within BMO’s U.S. Commercial Bank delivers cash management, card solutions, merchant services, and deposit products to clients across diverse industries. The Specialty Groups Sales team focuses on tailored solutions for key verticals such as Commercial Real Estate, Food, Consumer & Agriculture, and Sponsor Finance & Funds. Role Overview As a Treasury Consultant, you will serve as a senior sales advisor responsible for managing a portfolio of public sector clients and prospects, driving revenue growth, and delivering comprehensive treasury solutions. This role requires strategic relationship management, consultative selling, and collaboration across internal teams to ensure exceptional client experience. Key Responsibilities Manage and grow a portfolio of public sector clients by identifying treasury needs and delivering tailored solutions. Achieve/exceed key objectives and goals for sales production, new relationships, cross-selling and portfolio growth. Partner with Relationship Managers to deepen existing customer relationship and convert prospective clients through strategic account planning and joint calling. Develop proposals, pricing strategies, and presentations to support new business opportunities and deepen TPS relationships. Regularly call on clients to conduct business reviews, address issues, and provide insights on liquidity management, payment optimization, and risk mitigation strategies. Analyze financial, company, and industry data to determine the needs of the client for proper structuring of the Bank's Treasury products and services. Partner with Service and Onboarding teams to ensure seamless client implementations and ongoing support. Monitor portfolio performance, analyze data, and provide insights to drive client success. Maintain accurate records and reporting to track performance and client activity on Salesforce. Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance, mitigating risk and maintaining service standards. Attends industry forums and community events, enhancing the Bank’s brand, staying updated on market trends, and leveraging insights to support sales strategies. Coach Treasury Advisors and Portfolio Managers on skills required to progress to Treasury Consultant role Applies consultative sales and relationship management practices to generate leads and close sales of treasury management and payment solutions for new and existing clients while ensuring regulatory compliance. Monitors implementation activities to ensure alignment with timelines. Provides tailored treasury management solutions and optimizes sales processes through continuous process improvements to enhance client experiences and business outcomes. Manages sales processes, client engagement and outcomes. Leads business development efforts by building and nurturing strategic relationships with prospects and existing clients, identifying opportunities for cross‑selling treasury and cash management solutions, and leveraging professional networks to expand business reach. Leads complex deal closures with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure efficient execution aligned with organizational goals and compliance. Evaluates potential vulnerabilities and manages risks within client portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while aligning service levels with business objectives. Oversees client implementation activities to ensure timely delivery, providing actionable feedback for internal process refinement and improved client experiences. Serves as a subject matter expert, delivering innovative treasury solutions to enhance client and internal operational efficiency. Represents the organization at industry forums and community events, utilizing market insights and trends to reinforce the Bank’s brand and identify new business opportunities. Executes on strategic initiatives by coordinating cross‑functional teams, ensuring alignment with business goals, operational excellence, and market‑leading practices. Coordinates the management of databases; ensures alignment and integration of data in adherence to data governance standards. Champions process optimization by spearheading large‑scale workflow improvements and integrating best practices across treasury and payment operations to enhance operational efficiency. Builds and maintains strong long‑term relationships with the bank’s high‑value and strategic clients, providing strategic advice on financial solutions and ensuring exceptional service and partnership. Analyzes client and industry data to inform customized client solution strategies that includes optimizing management of working capital. Works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to define products, solutions and strategies that best fit clients’ needs. Builds advocacy and adoption of the suite of industry leading NA TPS digital products & solutions. Supports implementation activities, including documentation, pricing, and project timelines ensuring timely delivery and continuous process improvements. Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance, mitigating risk and maintaining service standards. Operates at a group/enterprise‑wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders. Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non‑routine. Implements changes in response to shifting trends. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. 8+ years of experience in treasury management sales within banking or fintech, with corporate treasury practitioner experience strongly preferred. Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and deliver consultative solutions. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; proficiency with Excel and reporting tools. Deep knowledge of treasury products, payment systems, and cash management strategies. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. CTP preferred. Qualifications 7+ years of relevant experience in Sales and treasury management, financial operations or risk management in a corporate or banking environment is preferred. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered. Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
