Maintenance Technician II

The Maintenance Technician II supports the operations maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment throughout the facility. This role focuses on troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, performing preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of all material handling systems.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and pneumatic systems, ensuring accurate and complete documentation of all work performed.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
• Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and plan repairs or installations.
• Apply knowledge of electrical and electronic principles to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions using appropriate tools, including a multimeter.
• Conduct metal and wood fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment installation, modification, and repair.
• Track, organize, and store department inventory, ensuring parts and supplies are available to support maintenance activities.
• Maintain positive working relationships across all areas of the operations facility, collaborating effectively with colleagues and other departments.
• Move equipment and materials weighing up to 49 pounds and perform tasks that require standing and walking for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience working with automated conveyor systems and controls.
• 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment.
• 2+ years of experience performing predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
• 1+ year of experience in metal and wood fabrication.
• 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• At least 1 year of knowledge and practical application of electrical and electronic principles.
• Ability to use a multimeter for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or operations environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to perform industrial maintenance tasks safely and accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field.
• 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
• Experience working with material handling equipment in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and safety standards.
• Project management experience, including planning and coordinating maintenance or installation work.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders and maintenance activities.
• Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial setting.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output (I/O) functions on automated systems.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance best practices for industrial equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain clear, accurate maintenance records.

Work Environment

This role is based in an operations facility that houses automated conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and automated packaging and distribution machinery. You will work with tools and technologies such as multimeters, industrial controls, blueprints, electrical schematics, and computerized maintenance management systems. The position involves frequent physical activity, including reaching above the head, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps and ladders, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds of equipment. You will often crouch and reach to install or move equipment by bending at the waist or legs and spine, and you will move between departments, floors, and properties, walking approximately 6 to 12 miles per day. The environment includes fluctuating temperatures, and you may be required to perform tasks while wearing a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots. The role also involves regular use of a computer or stand-up desk for 12 hours per day to document work and access maintenance systems, and shifts may last up to 12 hours with extended periods of standing and walking.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
