Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist Blood Bank

A brief overview follows laboratory policies and procedures to perform high and moderate complexity testing. Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions. Demonstrates clear communication with team members to optimize laboratory operations.

What you will do:

• Accurately and efficiently performs pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes for laboratory testing.
• Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
• Performs and evaluates all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results.
• Evaluates results of laboratory tests according to laboratory protocols to ensure quality patient care.
• Documents all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures.
• Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in assigned area.
• Takes responsibility for self-development.
• Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology (required).
• Work experience: Less than 1 year entry level (required).
• Licenses and certifications: Medical Lab Technician (MLT-ASCP) MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred (preferred upon hire).
