Consumer Litigation Staff Attorney

Consumer Litigation Staff Attorney Steptoe LLP is seeking a litigator with a minimum of four years of experience for a Staff Attorney position in its New York office. The Staff Attorney will primarily assist with litigating and settling consumer litigation and arbitration matters under the supervision of Partners in Steptoe's Consumer Litigation practice group. Responsibilities Manage individual litigation and arbitration matters, including reviewing correspondence and pleadings, reporting urgent issues to the supervising Partner, managing calendars and deadlines, conducting document review, supervising local counsel, drafting pleadings and motions, and handling discovery. Handle settlement duties including regular communication with opposing counsel, preparing client settlement recommendations, and drafting agreements. Attend court appearances and arbitration merits hearings as required. Qualifications Minimum of four years of experience as a litigator. Strong academic credentials, excellent writing and analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, ability to multitask, and confidence in working with opposing counsel. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Membership in the New York bar, active and in good standing. Preferred experience with arbitration matters in JAMS or AAA; defending financial institutions or commercial clients against claims under consumer protection, banking, or privacy laws; and/or experience in bankruptcy court (including adversary proceedings). Compensation and Benefits The anticipated salary range is $195,000 to $205,000. Competitive compensation.
