Job Title: Mechanic/Welder

Minimum Requirements:

• Light welding experience
• GED and/or equivalent combination of experience
• Must become a member of the ILWU local 142
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Preferred Requirements:

• Mechanic certification from an accredited program. (ASE diesel mechanic or equivalent)
• CDL Class B license, valid DOT medical card and acceptable driving record
• 4+ years experience working on heavy equipment

Duties and Responsibilities:

• General overhauls of plant equipment such as crushers, screens, feeders and batching plants; rebuilds equipment components and troubleshoots.
• Diagnoses malfunctions and based on findings repairs, adjusts, and maintains equipment.
• May perform the duties of other mechanics or welders.
• Uses hand and power tools common to their trade such as wrenches, hammers, hoists, drills, grinders, feeler gauges, indicators, component testing equipment, etc.
• Drives pickup and tests equipment as necessary.
• Performs established periodic P.M. checks as required.
• Services (cleans, oils, and lubes) equipment, plant compressor, pumps and meters.
• Follows established procedures in preparing necessary reports, requisitions, etc.
• Assists other tradesmen with repairs
• Oversees the work of trades helpers, other mechanics or welders, and other tradesmen where their assistance is needed.
• Performs night shift work and other related duties as required.
• Must have a working knowledge in repair, parts and operation of above equipment.
• Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
• Independently working to assess and repair equipment appropriately.
