Entry-Level Facilities & Maintenance TechnicianSALARY RANGE: $19.00 - $23.00/ hourPOSITION SUMMARY:The Entry-Level Facilities & Maintenance Technician supports the Facilities Manager in maintaining the organization's five (5) facilities and associated grounds. This role is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance, light repair, and office support tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment for employees and visitors.This position is ideal for a dependable, hands-on individual with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Facilities & Maintenance SupportAssist with general building maintenance activities including painting, minor repairs, and basic upkeepPerform carpet cleaning and spot maintenance as neededHang pictures, signage, whiteboards, and other wall-mounted itemsAssist with preventative maintenance and routine inspectionsOffice & Workplace SupportMove, assemble, and rearrange office furniture and equipmentMaintain cleanliness and organization of common areas, conference rooms, and shared spacesReplenish coffee stations, kitchen supplies, and breakroom inventoryRefill water and supplies in conference rooms and meeting areasGrounds MaintenanceSupport upkeep of exterior grounds including light landscaping, debris removal, and seasonal tasksAssist with snow/ice management coordination as neededTeam & Project SupportProvide day-to-day support to the Facilities ManagerAssist with special projects, office reconfigurations, and internal movesRespond to facilities requests and complete assigned work orders in a timely mannerQUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:Education & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredPrior maintenance, custodial, or handyman experience is a plusSkills & CompetenciesPositive, "can-do" attitude and willingness to learnStrong reliability and work ethicBasic knowledge of hand tools and general maintenance tasksAbility to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a teamGood organizational and time management skillsStrong attention to detailPerform semi-skilled facility maintenance.Safely and effectively use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools.Perform heavy manual labor.Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain and foster positive and effective working relationships with employees and vendors.Maintain records and files on work performed.Effectively communicate in person, over the telephone, in email and in writing.Ability to work independently. Seek and incorporate feedback on your performance from management, coworkers and clients.Additional RequirementsValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to travel regularly between branch locations (weekly: Greece, Pittsford, and quarterly: Syracuse)PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust possess: strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to distinguish colors in wiring; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. Frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and to operate tools and equipment. Incumbents in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites. Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS:Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
