Medical Billing & Coding Specialist

Responsibilities Submit and follow up on insurance claims, adjustments, reconsiderations, and payment requests. Review medical records, operative notes, invoices, and other documentation to ensure accurate claim submission. Post patient and insurance payments and maintain accurate account records. Respond to insurance and patient billing inquiries, including processing payments by phone. Verify insurance information and communicate with providers, patients, and insurance companies regarding claim status. Monitor outstanding claims and patient balances, documenting all account activity. Perform additional billing and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 1–3 years of medical billing or related healthcare revenue cycle experience required. Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding and insurance billing processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology preferred. Experience in neurosurgery, orthopedics, pain management, or a specialty practice preferred.
