IT Support Specialist (Hybrid – Onsite & Remote)

Position Overview

We are looking for a dependable and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our team. This is a hybrid role that combines remote helpdesk support from home with onsite client visits .

You will be the first point of contact for technical issues, responsible for troubleshooting, resolving problems, and supporting client environments across a range of technologies. Unetek is based out of Houston and this is the only position in Austin. You will be solely responsible for Austin clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming support calls and provide friendly, professional technical assistance
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues remotely
• Perform onsite support for clients as needed
• Manage and monitor endpoint protection (Antivirus / EDR solutions)
• Assist with security services including SOC-related alerts and response
• Support Microsoft 365 (user issues, setup, troubleshooting)
• Work within Autotask (or similar PSA) to document tickets and track work
• Assist with spam filtering systems and email security
• Monitor and support backup systems and data recovery processes
• Maintain clear documentation of issues, resolutions, and client environments
• Provide proactive recommendations to improve client systems
• Rotating on call weekends
• Monitor SOC and EDR interfaces for issues

Required Skills & Experience

• 1–3+ years of IT support / helpdesk experience (MSP experience is a plus)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows environments
• Experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, user management)
• Familiarity with:
• • Antivirus / EDR tools
  • Backup solutions
  • Spam filtering systems
  • PSA tools (Autotask preferred but not required)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for onsite work)

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Experience working in an MSP environment
• Knowledge of networking basics (routers, firewalls, VPNs)
• Exposure to cybersecurity tools and best practices
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
