Job Description
The VP of OEM Management is the single Account Owner for automotive OEMs designated by the CRO. The role protects and expands Microvast's strategic OEM relationships, converts awarded multi-year backlog into revenue and cash, coordinates customer commitments across the company, and ensures that programs, commercial changes, quality issues and executive communications are managed with one consistent account strategy.
Responsibilities
Strategic OEM Portfolio and Account Ownership- Serve as the single Account Owner for each automotive OEM assigned by the CRO and maintain one integrated global account strategy across regions, divisions and vehicle platforms.
- Understand each OEM's technology road map, sourcing cycle, vehicle programs, production footprint, decision structure, competitive position and long-term battery demand.
- Develop multi-year account plans covering relationship priorities, active backlog, open opportunities, renewals, risks, investment needs and financial objectives.
- Prevent conflicting customer messages, duplicated ownership, internal channel competition or unauthorized commitments across Microvast functions and regions.
- Build durable relationships with OEM executives and leaders in purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, finance, program management and after-sales service.
- Establish executive sponsorship and a regular customer governance cadence appropriate to the strategic importance and risk of each account.
- Maintain a current stakeholder map, decision process, influence network, relationship health assessment and succession coverage for key contacts.
- Represent Microvast with credibility, consistency and transparency during normal operations, negotiations, launches and critical escalations.
- Identify and develop expansion opportunities within assigned OEMs, including new platforms, vehicle programs, geographies, applications, products and lifecycle services.
- Coordinate early opportunity shaping with Business Development, Product Marketing, Product Management and Engineering before formal sourcing begins.
- Build a balanced account pipeline that supports renewal and growth beyond the current multi-year backlog without distracting from awarded-program execution.
- Ensure opportunities, bookings and backlog are counted once and are assigned to the correct owner, stage, account, program, product and award period in CRM.
- Coordinate named-OEM RFIs, RFQs, pilot orders, prototype orders and sourcing events with Global Sales and the CRO-designated Opportunity Owner.
- When designated as Opportunity Owner, apply the same qualification, pricing, margin, capacity, legal, warranty and approval gates required of Global Sales.
- Ensure pilot and prototype programs define scope, price, customer acceptance criteria, development obligations, timing, warranty boundaries and the pathway to production award.
- Support negotiations and executive alignment without making unauthorized commitments on price, capacity, technical performance, delivery, investment, exclusivity or liability.
- Own the commercial integrity of the assigned OEM backlog, including award evidence, contract coverage, customer releases, volume assumptions, price, currency, timing and cancellation risk.
- Maintain a rolling program-level view of backlog conversion to revenue, production schedules, releases, upside, downside, slippage and customer dependencies.
- Challenge unsupported volumes and identify backlog at risk from program delay, demand change, qualification gaps, price disputes, supply constraints or customer strategy changes.
- Coordinate corrective action with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales and Program Management when revenue conversion or customer releases fall below plan.
- Provide account-level oversight from nomination and development through validation, industrialization, PPAP, start of production, ramp-up and stable series production.
- Ensure responsible functions have clear customer requirements, milestones, deliverables, decision rights and escalation paths; do not replace their execution ownership.
- Monitor technical, quality, capacity, material, tooling, certification, localization and schedule risks that could affect customer commitments or program economics.
- Lead integrated customer recovery plans when cross-functional execution gaps threaten launch, production continuity, scorecard or strategic relationship.
- Maintain clear visibility of each account's contracts, pricing schedules, volume commitments, warranty terms, productivity obligations, payment terms and commercial exposures.
- Govern customer-requested engineering, volume, schedule, logistics, localization and warranty changes through documented impact analysis and approval.
- Drive timely recovery of engineering, tooling, premium freight, commodity, inflation, cancellation, obsolescence and other costs when contractually or commercially justified.
- Coordinate amendments, renewals, resourcing events and major renegotiations with Global Sales, Finance, Legal and the responsible operating functions.
- Establish an integrated communication plan for routine reviews, executive meetings, scorecards, program decisions and critical escalations.
- Own the overall customer relationship during quality, delivery and service incidents while the responsible function owns containment, technical resolution and corrective action.
- Ensure customer commitments have named internal owners, dates and evidence, and close the loop when issues are resolved or decisions change.
- Monitor customer scorecards, satisfaction, sourcing status and relationship risk and act before performance problems threaten backlog, future awards or payment.
- Own the consolidated revenue, booking, margin, cash and backlog outlook for assigned OEM accounts in coordination with Finance and the applicable opportunity owners.
- Improve account economics through price realization, product mix, change recovery, payment discipline, cost transparency and avoidance of uncontrolled obligations.
- Support collection of overdue receivables, resolution of debit notes and commercial claims, and mitigation of credit or payment-security risk.
- Escalate gaps between account commitments and company capacity, investment, profitability, cash or risk tolerance before further commitments are made.
- Chair an integrated OEM account team including Sales, Program Management, Engineering, Quality,
- Operations, Supply Chain, Global Services, Finance and Legal as needed.
- Define responsibilities through clear account, opportunity, program, service-case and functional ownership rather than shared or ambiguous accountability.
- Build and coach a capable global OEM-management team with strong automotive discipline, customer knowledge, commercial judgment and succession plans.
- Promote customer focus, integrity, data accuracy, early escalation, constructive challenge and disciplined follow-through across the account organization.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, program management, supply chain or a related discipline required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Twelve or more years of progressive automotive OEM account management, sales, commercial, program-management or customer-leadership experience.
- At least five years leading global or multi-region teams and complex strategic accounts with material revenue, backlog and margin accountability.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-year automotive awards from sourcing and nomination through launch, series production, change management and renewal.
- Experience with batteries, electric vehicles, automotive Tier 1 supply, commercial vehicles or another safety-critical engineered product strongly preferred.
- Experience working across the United States, Europe and Asia and with global OEM purchasing, engineering, quality and manufacturing organizations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive sourcing, RFQ, nomination, development, validation, industrialization, APQP, PPAP, launch and series-production processes.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, VDA expectations, customer-specific requirements, scorecards, warranty processes and structured corrective action.
- Ability to discuss battery cells, modules, packs, BMS, thermal management, performance, safety and manufacturing tradeoffs credibly with technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of account economics, backlog, pricing, margin, capacity, change recovery, contracts, cash, credit, forecasting and CRM discipline.
