Maintenance Technician 3rd Shift

Location: Kansas City, MO | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 3rd Shift Overview An established plastics manufacturer serving the automotive industry through advanced research, engineering, and specialized extrusion and compression technologies is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for its 3rd shift team. This role is essential to keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently, and requires availability for 24-hour call. What you'll do Maintain rigid safety standards related to plant operation Collaborate with other plant departments on cross-functional projects Perform assigned equipment work and repairs in a timely manner Keep work areas, tools, and maintenance supplies clean and organized Replace lamps and repair/maintain bathroom facilities Keep parking lots and walkways clean and free of debris Maintain all equipment in top working condition Order and track repair parts to maintain inventory levels Complete required paperwork, including PM documentation Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance Understand the sequence of operations on presses Recommend machine repairs, issue work orders, and follow up on completion Troubleshoot plastic injection molding machines and support equipment such as granulators, thermolators, material dryers, and DMEs Troubleshoot secondary and auxiliary equipment, replacing sensors as needed to maintain daily production Disassemble, measure, and install barrels, screws, tip assemblies, heater bands, and complete injection units Prioritize daily work as it arises Perform any work necessary for the safety and efficiency of the plant and its employees Work collaboratively with others to complete tasks Be available to stay after scheduled hours or respond to 24-hour call-ins Report or initiate corrective action for unsafe conditions immediately Continue training as required Operate hi-lo equipment safely, maintaining awareness of surroundings and stopping at cross aisles Assume supervisory responsibilities temporarily if the Maintenance Manager position becomes vacant Serve as a member of the environmental response team, fire brigade, and first responder team as needed, with specialized training; provide on-the-job training to other personnel Perform other duties as assigned Required qualifications Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers, and the public Mathematical skills including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rate, ratio, percent, and graph interpretation Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis, Windows, and PLC programming software Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables Industrial maintenance certification Hi-Lo license required Crane and rigging training required Ability to work well with others Safety-conscious with consistent use of PPE, including hard hat Ability to read and understand blueprints, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics Ability to read electrical prints Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical problems Self-motivated Available for 24-hour on-call duty Lock out tag out training required Knowledge of basic electricity, electrical distribution, and electrical control Experience with PLCs and digital electronics Experience with hydraulics, including proportional and servo hydraulics Pneumatic control knowledge (per division requirements) Willingness to complete equipment-specific training Blueprint reading skills Experience with measuring and testing equipment Building maintenance experience Preferred qualifications High school Diploma preferred Compensation and benefits Dental Vision Medical 401k with company match Paid holidays and vacation Climate-controlled work environment Job promotional opportunities and more Why this role This position offers the chance to play a key role in maintaining safe, efficient plant operations for an established manufacturer with decades of experience serving the automotive industry, along with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for advancement. #J-18808-Ljbffr
