About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to serve as its principal legal advisor, providing strategic and practical counsel that is deeply aligned with the organization's mission and values. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to, contract negotiation, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This role requires a hands-on legal executive with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, a minimum of 8 years' legal experience, and a strong background in nonprofit management, preferably in a faith-based environment. The General Counsel will also be tasked with supervising a small legal team, managing the legal function, and ensuring the organization's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a comprehensive knowledge of laws affecting nonprofit organizations, with a focus on contract law, corporate governance, employment law, and regulatory compliance. The role demands exceptional legal skills, the ability to provide practical and business-oriented advice, and a commitment to the organization's mission and Christian values. The ideal candidate will have experience in a ministerial role, a deep understanding of the legal issues facing Christian ministries, and a proven track record of leadership in team management and employee development. The position is fully remote, with occasional travel, and requires a candidate who can effectively interact with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
