Survivor Benefits Production Analyst (LT)

State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) is seeking a Survivor Benefits Production Analyst (LT) – Analyst I in the Disability & Survivor Benefits Division. Job Description and Duties This limited‑term position (12 months, extendable up to 24 months or to permanent) supports the Survivor Benefits Unit by investigating benefits claims, updating records, and providing clear guidance to members and beneficiaries. The Analyst I performs analytical tasks, manages a caseload of average and escalated cases, and ensures accurate and timely benefits processing. Responsibilities Provide empathetic, clear, and professional assistance to members and beneficiaries, explaining complex issues in simple terms. Manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Interpret and apply CalSTRS laws, rules, and policies accurately, serving as an expert witness in administrative hearings when required. Perform complex calculations and apply mathematical concepts accurately. Evaluate complex issues, draw logical conclusions, develop recommendations, and produce high-quality staff work. Communicate effectively in writing and orally with colleagues and beneficiaries. Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) proficiently. Maintain excellent attendance and adapt to changing priorities and daily work demands. Qualifications Applicants should possess strong analytical, communication, and customer‑service skills, along with a commitment to accuracy and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team. Minimum Requirements Classification: Analyst I Annual salary range: $3,861.00 – $6,276.00, depending on experience and alternate range placement. Remote work: Hybrid (two days per week in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Work hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Position eligible for the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 with a 3% base pay reduction in exchange for leave credits.
