Job Identification: 663685 Posting Date: 03/20/2026, 11:59 AM Job Schedule: Full Time Job Description Inova Pathology is seeking AP/CP board‑certified pathologists to provide anatomic and clinical pathology services. Fellowship training in surgical pathology with at least 3 years of surgical and clinical pathology sign‑out experience is preferred. Sign‑out responsibilities, frozen section coverage, and on‑call duties are shared with other members of the pathology faculty. Pathologist Job Responsibilities Possess strong overall diagnostic and communicative skills with the ability to handle surgical pathology sign‑out of an active general surgical pathology service (complex surgical cases, frozen section, cytopathology). Participate in centralized slide distribution and evenly share cases across the system; provide clinical services in multiple modalities according to imaging practice standards. Have interest and ability to oversee daily clinical laboratory duties, such as blood bank, hematology, and chemistry. See cases within specialty because the centralized slide distribution system enables subspecialty sign‑out. All system autopsies are performed at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Call duties include covering both AP (OR/frozen) and CP (mainly blood bank). Additional Requirements Education : Graduate of accredited Medical Doctorate Program (MD/DO). Experience : 3 years in active practice of pathology preferred. Board Certification : Anatomic and Clinical Pathology—AP/CP. Certification : Must obtain advanced certification in applicable modality within one year of training; BLS from the American Heart Association. Licensure : Currently hold or ability to obtain an unrestricted VA medical licensure. Credentialing : Ability to obtain successful medical staff credentials throughout all Inova pathology locations.
