Human Resources Generalist Position Summary :
Midwest Recreational Clearinghouse is now hiring a Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist (Multi-State) will support and manage HR operations across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. This position will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, managing employee relations, overseeing benefits and payroll, and supporting organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and the ability to adapt HR strategies to meet diverse regulatory and workforce needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations :

• Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees across all locations.
• Address employee concerns, mediate disputes, and promote a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.
• Investigate and resolve workplace issues in compliance with state-specific laws and company policies.

Compliance and Regulations :

• Ensure the company adheres to all federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., wage and hour laws, FMLA, ADA, and state-specific paid leave).
• Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, including I-9s and EEO reporting.
• Monitor and implement changes in labor laws across all states.

Payroll and Benefits Administration :

• Collaborate with payroll and benefits vendors to ensure accurate and compliant processing for employees in different states.
• Manage multi-state tax requirements, unemployment insurance, and other payroll-related needs.
• Oversee state-specific benefits programs, such as paid family leave or disability benefits.

Recruitment and Onboarding :

• Coordinate hiring efforts across multiple states, ensuring compliance with local hiring practices.
• Create and execute onboarding programs tailored to regional and remote employees.

Training and Development :

• Develop and deliver training programs that meet the needs of employees across various states.
• Ensure compliance with state-mandated training requirements (e.g., harassment prevention).

Policy Development and Implementation :

• Draft, review, and update company policies to include state-specific addenda.
• Communicate policy updates effectively across all locations.

HR Reporting and Metrics :

• Generate and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making.
• Provide insights on turnover, engagement, and other workforce trends by location.

Qualifications

• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
• Experience : 2-5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, prefer experience with multi-state responsibilities.
• Knowledge :
  • Strong understanding of federal and multi-state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws).
  • Experience with multi-state payroll, benefits, and tax administration.
• Skills :
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Paycor is preferred) and payroll systems.

Preferred Competencies

• Familiarity with remote workforce management.
• Experience creating and managing an employee handbook with state-specific addenda.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Hours of Operation

• Full-time in office - Hastings, MN
• Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM
