The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $59,237 ($28.48 per hour) to $90,971 ($43.73 per hour), based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is recruiting School Health Room Technicians to work to provide health services to students in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).School Health Services is looking for caring and skilled Certified Nursing Assistants to become part of our school family as School Health Room Technicians. This recruitment will be used to recruit and hire multiple temporary part-time substitute School Health Room Technician, to work during the 10-month school year. The temporary substitutes are assigned as needed and may be assigned to work anywhere in the county. Onboarding and training will start on Tuesday, December 1, 2026. The School Health Room Technician provides standard frontline school health room care to include first aide, emergency care, and administration of medications and treatments in routine and non-routine situations to students (the focus) and staff (emergency situations) at the school of assignment within Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS); a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), who is normally a School Community Health Nurse (SCHN) in School Health Services (SHS) delegates authority to, and provides clinical oversight of, the School Health Room Technician in accordance with Maryland regulations. The School Health Room Technician also performs an array of care related administrative work, such as preparing/maintaining student health records, reviewing student emergency information, documenting health room visits, transcribing medication and treatment orders, checking, refilling and distributing first aid kits, sending out health related letters, preparing health-wellness themed bulletin boards and, as pertinent to the position of assignment, referring students to the School Based Health and Wellness Center. Selected candidates will be required to successfully completed a pre-employment physical exam, drug screen, criminal background and Child Protective Services clearance as well as a House Bill 486 background and employer review. Medical and background clearances must be received no later than November 13, 2026, in order to move forward. Onboarding and training will start on December 1, 2026. Experience: One (1) year of experience working in a position that involved care of, or services to, children or adolescents. Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland. Equivalency: None. Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Possession and maintenance of an active and current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant-I (CNA-I) and/or Certified Nursing Assistant-II (CNA-II) registered with the State of Maryland. Post appointment/completion of mandatory training and recertification requirements: Within forty-five (45) days of County employment (or within one hundred eighty (180) days for temporary employees who have successfully completed County training, or otherwise specified by SHS): Possession and maintenance of an active and current certification in CPR; Possession and maintenance of an active and current certification in First Aid; and, Possession and maintenance of an active and current Certified Medication Technician (CMT) registered in the State of Maryland. There will be no substitutions for this section.
