SOUS CHEF (FULL TIME)

Job Summary We are hiring immediately for a full‑time Sous Chef position at Canteen, located at Commerce Bank EDR – 1000 Walnut, Kansas City, MO 64106. Online applications accepted only. Full‑time schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Nights as needed. No weekend work. Primary Responsibilities Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring all deadlines are met. Supervise hourly food‑service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and participation in reviews. Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures. Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; clean workstations thoroughly before leaving the area. Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements. Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner, relaying relevant information directly to supervisor. Demonstrate a complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers. Keep up with peak production and service hours. Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, track production, consumption, and waste, and inform supervisor when supplies or product are low. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in high‑end service and menu development required. Culinary degree required. Compensation Pay range: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour. Benefits & Perks Bank holidays off.
