SOUS CHEF (FULL TIME)

Job Overview Position: Full‑time Sous Chef (Hiring Immediately) Location: Children's Mercy Kansas – 5808 West 110th Street, Overland Park, KS 66211 (Online applications only) Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Days and hours may vary. Pay: $18.50–$29.50 per hour Requirement: No previous experience required. Job Summary Helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook food, coordinates activities of cooks and other food‑service associates, and assumes responsibility for kitchen staff in the absence of the Executive Chef. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring all deadlines are met. Supervises hourly food service associates: hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions. Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal safety procedures. Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures. Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; cleans workstation and displays. Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner. Demonstrates complete understanding of menu items and explains them accurately to associates and customers. Keeps up with peak production and service hours. Monitors inventory and deliveries; tracks production, consumption, and waste; reports low supplies to supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
