Assistant/Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry College/School/Unit: Dell Medical School Department: Department of Psychiatry Posted: Mar 11, 2025 Apply By: Open until filled Overview The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School seeks a board certified or eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our clinical faculty. The role will serve in community and school‑based telemedicine programs, consultation‑liaison teams, and statewide mental health initiatives. You will provide clinical expertise to evaluate and treat children and adolescents, support primary care providers, and contribute to educational and research efforts that transform mental health care in Central Texas. Responsibilities Deliver direct psychiatric care to children and adolescents through in‑person, telehealth, and remote clinical settings. Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients and for physician callers on the Child and Perinatal Psychiatric Access Network (CPAN). Prescribe and manage psychotropic medication, monitor effectiveness and tolerability, and adhere to formulary and cost‑benefit guidelines. Document all services within 24 hours of delivery using the department’s approved electronic medical record system. Engage in clinical quality improvement, peer review, and interdisciplinary team meetings, including medical staff and crisis response teams. Participate in faculty teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities aligned with the department’s educational mission. Adhere to on‑call schedules, attendance policies, and professional and legal requirements for practice in Texas. Qualifications Required: Unrestricted medical license in Texas, or ability to obtain one prior to appointment. Board certified or board eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry, with a plan to obtain certification within two years. Eligibility for credentialing and privileging by Ascension Seton and the local mental health authority. Eligibility for appointment as assistant professor or higher in the Department and Dell Medical School. Preferred: Demonstrated leadership and teaching experience in psychiatry or a related field. Strong communication and collaborative skills across professional levels. Self–motivated, innovative, and committed to excellence in clinical care and program development. Experience in community outreach or telemedicine initiatives for youth mental health.
