Role Overview The Women’s Health SRT RN provides competent, patient-centered nursing care across our Level II Intermediate Care Nursery and the Postpartum Unit at both UNC REX Raleigh and UNC REX Holly Springs. This role supports staffing flexibility and continuity of care by delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care to newborns, postpartum mothers, and families in both a tertiary medical center and a community hospital setting. This role requires the ability to transition seamlessly between units and locations while ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality care. This position is ideal for nurses with 2 years of recent Level II Nursery and Postpartum experience. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to newborns requiring intermediate care, including monitoring and management of mild respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, IV fluids, antibiotics, jaundice, feeding difficulties, mild infections, and temperature instability. Provide evidence-based nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns, including care following vaginal and cesarean deliveries, routine couplet care, and care for antepartum and gynecologic patients as assigned. Perform comprehensive assessments, ongoing monitoring, documentation, and evaluation of patient responses to care. Educate and support families regarding infant care, feeding, safe sleep practices, maternal recovery, and discharge planning. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members— including physicians, neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, OB/GYNs, NICU and nursery staff, lactation consultants, and support staff—to coordinate care and ensure safe transitions across units and facilities. Demonstrate flexibility, clinical competence, and professionalism when transitioning between units and sites to meet staffing and patient care needs. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with UNC Health standards and policies. Work Locations Will float between: NC Rex Raleigh UNC Rex Holly Springs Daily assignments are based on the needs of both facilities. Shift Requirements Day Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Minimum of 24 hours per week (two 12‑hour shifts) Must work a minimum of two 12‑hour weekend shifts per six‑week scheduling period Required to work two official holidays and one unofficial holiday annually. Teammates are placed on a holiday track at hire to ensure fair distribution and meet unit needs. Other Information Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Must have NC RN Licensure; BCLS; RN NC LIC. Professional Experience Requirements: Minimum of one year of current acute care hospital experience in the chosen clinical division desired. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, analyze and interpret clinical information and technical procedures; to document clinical information; to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from patients, physicians, family members, and other staff; mathematical skills; reasoning ability; ability to interpret extensive technical instructions.
