2026-2027 Special Education Teacher Fellow - Manor, TX

Special Education Teacher Fellow Position Reports To Annette DeLeon - Principal - Compass Rose Destiny Qualifications Required: Have at least a High School Diploma or GED. 1-2 years of experience. Pass a criminal background check. Preferred: Experience working with school-aged children. For Special Education Fellows, experience in comparable fields, i.e., social service worker, paraprofessional, teacher assistant, teacher, health aide, after-school activities coordinator, child care, etc. Growth and Development Teacher Leader Opportunities, including AP-in-Training Cohort. Leader Residency Program, Grade Team Lead, Social Media Manager, District Content Lead, etc. Training on multiple EdTech platforms, including Canva, NWEA, I-Ready, Bullseye, Bibliotech, Google Classroom, Promethon Technologies, Flipgrid, Fronline, and Branching Minds. Training on curriculum, including Eureka K-5 Math, Carnegie Learning, IXL DeAlba, SummitK12 (Science), Amplify, Odell, Lowman, Studies Weekly, TCI, SAVVAS, Creative Curriculum (PK- Teaching Strategies), and Amplify - mClass. Teacher-led campus Projects and Initiatives that vary by campus. Some examples include, but are not limited to: Community Garden, Orchestra Club, Anime Club, Youth Adult Leadership Programming, High School Work Study Teaching Assistant Program, Jazz Team, Multicultural Club, Flag Football, Creative Writing Club, First Down Fan Club, Video Game Club, Afterschool Athletics through Sky Hawks Sports Academy, etc. Your Mission Redefine what’s possible in public education. It is your primary responsibility to prepare all students with the academic and social skills necessary to persist and engage productively in their communities. Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, work with students in small groups or in one-to-one assignments to teach, reinforce, or follow up learning activities in core academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas. These duties shall be designed to complement the instructional program to maximize the learning opportunity for the inclusion student. The Paraprofessional will also assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and perform a routine of clerical tasks as assigned. Learning, additionally, does not stop in the classroom. At Compass Rose, we engage with the community regularly, asking families what they want to see from their graduates, listening to them and taking their wishes seriously, and we use the information we learn to shape our schools. Our goal is to always align our program with the desires of our community. Your Responsibilities Planning Instructional delivery and assessment of student lessons. Work with students to master specified IEP goals. Analyze student work and track progress data. Instructional Delivery Provide daily intervention for a small group of students. Provide individual instruction/tutoring both inside and outside of the classroom setting. Assist the Special Education teacher with English, Life Skills, Social Skills, and Math classes taught/delivered in a self-contained classroom. Learning Environment Procedures, routines, and transitions are clear and efficient to create a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment. Consistently engages in community and restorative circles with students. Teacher builds trust authentically and cares for the whole child as well as the family unit the child is a part of. Advocates for the needs of students in the classroom. Professional Practices and Responsibilities Participate in ARD committee meetings. Monitor students during recess or lunch. Assist with daily living, which may include personal care, hygiene, feeding, lifting, and/or toileting. Monitor behavior and implement restorative behavior practices Work with other support personnel: Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, and Physical Therapists. Meet professional standards in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators and Compass Rose Employee handbook/policies. (e.g., attendance, professional appearance, and behaviors, timeliness to work, meeting deadlines, uses discretion with confidential information, using good judgment in performing responsibilities) Set short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, and supervisor feedback. Exemplify the mission, vision, and goals of the school to students, colleagues, parents, and families. Other School Responsibilities Special Education transportation monitor, if needed. Maintain electronic gradebooks and timely submission of grades. Participate in weekly manager check-ins and observation debrief meetings. Provide after-school or Saturday tutoring as well as student recruitment events. Attend campus and network professional development. participate actively in a minimum number of student recruitment events annually (as determined by the network and school guidance). Hold and attend parent-teacher meetings and report-card pick-up. Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
