Job Description: Shipping and Receiving Clerk (Light Industrial)

Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate and efficient movement of materials into and out of the Business Unit (BU). This role ensures proper documentation, inventory accuracy, and timely processing of shipments while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Inventory Management

Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials.
Route materials to appropriate departments or off-site facilities.
Accurately enter receipt data into the Materials Management system.
Identify and report discrepancies between shipments and documentation to the Warehouse Manager.
Ensure proper storage of materials in designated areas.
Rotate inventory based on receipt dates and expiration dates.
Identify and report short-dated materials (less than 30 days shelf life).

Shipping & Order Fulfillment

Prepare outbound shipments, including all necessary documentation.
Pick, pack, and process internal and external orders.
Deliver stock to designated staging areas for operational departments.

Warehouse Operations

Manage returned goods in accordance with SOP guidelines.
Assist with cycle counts and full physical inventory.
Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks when required.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of warehouse areas.

Administrative & Support Tasks

Assist with order entry, record storage, and retrieval processes.
Support mail handling activities (internal and external distribution).
Maintain accurate records and documentation of warehouse activities.
Analyze existing processes and recommend improvements.

Compliance & Safety

Adhere to all company policies, including Materials Management, HR, Safety, OSHA, and regulatory requirements (CLIA, etc.).
Follow workplace safety guidelines and report any hazards.

Additional Duties

Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience

Minimum of 6 months of materials management or warehouse experience
Basic data entry experience preferred

Skills & Competencies

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping ability
Team-oriented mindset with ability to work independently

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to operate computers, printers, and barcode scanners

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move materials for extended periods

Equipment Operation

Forklift and pallet jack operation (preferred/required as needed)

Work Environment

Warehouse/industrial setting with moderate physical activity
Exposure to standard warehouse conditions, including machinery and materials handling
