This includes ongoing assessment of the total patient. The RN provides interventions to treat the presenting symptoms and evaluates the effect of nursing interventions and patient's responses. The RN functions as a team leader/member and resource to others. The RN delegates, oversees and provides direction to support staff. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to establish goals and outcomes for each patient. Inserts cantor tubes, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes per physician order, following proper procedure. Inserts and provides care for IV's. Provides routine care and instruction of SP catheters and surgical drains following physician order. Provides proper care for drains and removal of same.Removes sutures and skin clips, provides routine ostomy care and irrigates and packs wounds, following physician order, procedure and care plan.Does accurate CVP reading, according to physician order and following proper procedure. Sets up, instructs and monitors use of PCA.Obtains doppler pulses following proper procedure. Provides routine care of gastrostomy/jejunostomy tubes according to procedure and physician orders.
