The VP will also be tasked with shipping flagship AI products, enhancing the firm's evaluation discipline, and building the necessary infrastructure for continuous training on proprietary data. Candidates for the VP of Applied AI position at the company should have a strong applied-research background, with a proven track record of not only conducting research but also of successfully implementing it in a practical setting. Experience in building and managing a substantial applied AI organization is essential, with a focus on hiring and team leadership. The role requires a deep understanding of operating within a regulated US fintech environment, including model governance, fairness review, and public scrutiny. The ideal candidate may come from a peer fintech with a history of scaling AI, a US tech-platform AI organization, or a major research lab with a desire for product ownership. The position is based in New York, with a requirement for regular travel to the firm's research office in Toronto and the West Coast for partner engagements.
