Position Summary:

The Work Control Coordinator is responsible for the management and execution of the preventative maintenance readiness through and including work package assembly, distribution of work packages to field personnel, review of completed work packages and Records Custodian duties. The Work Control Coordinator will be part of a highly creative, diverse, fast-paced, effective and efficient team supporting the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC) operations and infrastructure maintenance and modifications. This position will contribute in establishing facility maintenance and construction priorities for executing all scheduled and emergent work activities.

Work activities for this position requires daily work assignments within both the Department of Energy Hazard Category 2 facility and non-nuclear areas, ensuring safety and security are a primary focus for all work performed within the area, and maintain the required training requirements mandated for this position.

The Work Control Coordinator position requires a close working relationship with the Maintenance organization, Logistics, Training, Engineering, Safety, Radiological Controls, Fire Protection, Quality Assurance, Operations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for maintaining a controlled area to house ready-to-work, scheduled and completed work packages and work packages dispositioned as records
• Assemble scheduled PM work packages 3 weeks ahead of execution date (T-3), ensuring to include latest revision of work instructions, JHA/HIC and other supporting documentation
• Monitor distribution and assignment of work packages to field personnel for execution
• Record and track current assignee in DevonWay to aid in work package accountability
• Review all completed work packages for adherence to performance guidelines
• Initiate trending/feedback process to communicate reported UNSAT conditions or opportunities for improvement to Engineering and Maintenance Planner
• Serve as Records Custodian ensuring timely processing and transmittal of completed work packages to Document Control for records disposition
• Serve as Point of Contact (POC) for processing requests to create new, modify existing or cancel a PM Task in DevonWay
• Fostering a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
• Implement nuclear safety culture initiatives to strengthen employee engagement and collaboration on behalf of N3B senior management.
• Perform additional duties as determined by the Work Control Program Manager.

Education & Experience:

Level 1 : A Bachelor’s degree in technical field, or other closely related discipline; 0-1 years radiological hazardous waste environmental remediation, construction engineering, construction management, procurement and process engineering and/or facility operations experience, or other relevant experience.

Level 2 : A Bachelor’s degree in technical field, or other closely related discipline; 3 years radiological hazardous waste environmental remediation, construction engineering, construction management, procurement and process engineering and/or facility operations experience, or other relevant experience.

Additional relevant experience may substitute for the lack of required education one one-for-one year basis, or vice versa.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to utilize and manipulate a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) used to maintain and track work activities
• A Master's degree in in a technical, or a closely related field.

Knowledge, Skill, & Ability:

• General knowledge and understanding of DOE nuclear facility operations including conduct of operations, maintenance, engineering and implementation of integrated safety management.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills with ability to present ideas effectively in formal and informal situations and convey thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• General proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as required.
• Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
• Skill at the expert level within a specialty and viewed as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to contribute functional expertise to business proposal initiatives.
• Ability to impact organizational success and productivity, with latitude for independent judgment.
• Ability to meet the level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability, and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• This position works in an office environment with low noise level due mostly to office equipment.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and occasionally climb or balance, squat, stoop, twist, turn, push, pull, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms.
• This position frequently must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Hearing requirements include ability to listen and respond appropriately to conversations in person, virtually, and over the phone.
• Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated.

Additional Qualifications:

• Maintain required safety, security, and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including stopping work if job is unsafe or compromises security.
• Must obtain an L level Department of Energy security clearance.
• This position will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
